Lol, Emoticons Invented by KJV Translators?

Did you know that there is a “wink” at the end of Ephesians 2:5 in the King James Version of the Bible? It says,

Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

The wink even fits the narrative; God does indeed have a great sense of humour!

For those that don’t get the joke, God knows the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10) so He knew that emoticons (and nowadays emojis) would be used to convey meaning in human communication. All Scripture is inspired by God (2 Timothy 3:16) and KJV translators did focus on preserving the meaning contained in the original texts. Therefore, we could infer that the above-mentioned “wink” was also inspired by God.

So when you read that passage imagine your Heavenly Father smiling at you with a big happy grin, doing a huge wink saying, “you are saved by grace; it’s my gift to you and you don’t have to do anything to earn it, just believe and receive it!” (paraphrase of Ephesians 2:8).

Merry Christmas and Happy New 2018 everybody!
