Change Your Mind, Change Your Life

I’ve been using MiAffirmations for a while now. It’s a great little tool that helps me focus on the positive (even when changes around me are seemingly out of control) and I also use it to remind myself about God’s will for me. I often find that few minutes of listening to affirmations and scripture (that I’ve recorded in it) makes me happier and puts me in a more peaceful/meditative state.

MiAffirmations  lets you use the power of affirmations to improve your outlook on life. It helps you override negative thought patterns and reprogram self-talk (a stream of unspoken thoughts that circulate through person’s head all of the time).

Record the affirmations you want to hear, choose the background music and let the application mix it and play it back to you, while you engage in your daily activities. Help yourself by reprogramming your thinking. Stay focused on a positive outcome rather than a negative situation. Use affirmations to reach your full potential.

Affirmations are simple yet powerful way to override negative thought patterns and reprogram one’s self-talk. There is an estimate that an average individual’s self-talk contains about 50,000 thoughts per day, and these thoughts could be either positive or negative.

If majority of self-talk is positive then such an individual is an optimist, otherwise he or she is a pessimist. Research has shown that positive thinking (positive self-talk) is linked with :

  • Increased life span
  • Lower rates of depression
  • Lower levels of distress
  • Greater resistance to the common cold
  • Better psychological and physical well-being
  • Reduced risk of death from cardiovascular disease
  • Better coping skills during hardships and times of stress
